Waste management is an essential part of environmental sustainability. Through its green initiatives programs, Wisma Barito Pacific (WBP) has significantly improved its building’s waste management by implementing the waste sorting policy for all of its tenants. On Tuesday, 27 October 2020, WBP held the Waste Sorting Socialization & Awards on the basement floor. Represented by Rajawahid Manurung, the WBP’s chief engineer as Building Management lead, the event started at 10.00 AM. It gave updated information regarding waste sorting policy and acknowledgment to the winner of the waste sorting competition.  

As we know, this policy is promoted through a competition concept, assisted by each tenant’s Office Boy (OB). Two officers provided to do the inspection and collect validated results. The monthly recollection result is announced by displaying it as a lift poster, enabling the result to be seen by the whole tenant. OB from the tenant’s that gain the highest score will be awarded every three months to acknowledge their fully implemented waste sorting policy.

This one-hour event was participated by 15 OB as a platform for the winner announcement of the waste sorting competition in Q4 2020. The winner is Asmari from the 6B floor, followed by Rakiman (11B), Wahyudi (9A), Sumarti (7A), and Haris (10A). Each of them received cash up to IDR 750,000 as of the prize of the competition. The winner announcement marked the end of the event. Eventually, WBP will continue this quarterly competition, which is expected to gain more spirit and strong participation from all tenants to implement the waste sorting policy comprehensively.
